Biography of a Scientific Woman

       BIOGRAPHY OF JANE GOODALL

Jane Goodallwas born the April 3, 1934 (she’s currently 85 years old) in 1934 in Hampstead, London. Her father was a business man and her mother a novelist. As a child, as an alternative to a teddy bear, Goodall's father gave her a stuffed chimpanzee named Jubilee. Goodall has said that her fondness for this toy began her early love for animals.

Jane’s first and great inspiration is the paleontologist and archaeologist of Kenya, Louis Leakey, who hired her as his secretary. He told Jane about his idea of studying primates behaviour and she became really enthusiastic about it. Her methods for the study of primates were different because she named them instead of simply numbering them and she was criticized for that.

Since then shehas dedicated her life to the study of chimpanzee behaviour in Africa, and to promote more sustainable lifestyles. She is also a UN Messenger of Peace.  Jane has won numerous awards for everything she has done.
