How technologies are fighting against coronavirus

Thanks to 3D printers, FabLabs and the " maker community" people is developing and print masks, breathing valves or protective glasses for hospitals or health centers. The fight against the Covid-19 is making people conscious about the situation and makers who love technology are ready to give hope and help.

Some free and totally necessary products are:

Masks                                                                                               Breathing valves

In case usual masks are not enough to prevent the virus, the are the breathing valves that can be applied in most N95 masks. There are one-way valves that allows exhaled air to escape through a clear pathway and prevents inhaled air completely by closing it off.

                                                    Protective glasses

Eyes are a really sensitive area and when trying to avoid a pandemic virus, it's very important to take all cautions. That's why makers interested on helping the world are working to make the best safety glasses. These may entirely protect the eye area from getting bacteria.

Fever detectors

This one may look like a gun, but it's only to make a more safe environment, detecting who has fever you may detect who has the virus. However it won't be always useful since sometimes there's people with no symptoms carrying it.

Also, there is this other kind of fever detector, that I think it's better because you're saving way more distance. It works simply: According to temperature, the machine will detect if someone's temperature is higher that supposed and will sow you through the camera. Depending on the color of the person sown to you, you will know if this person has fever or not.

                                    Vaccine development

Although no vaccine are yet confirmed for making easier the end of the pandemia, scientist are working hard and doing their best to find the cure of Covid-19.

Localization apps

Scientist and makers are working in all kind of methods to avoid more spreading of the virus. Among them, localization apps. These consists on an app that will tell you it there's people around you that is carrying the virus. We don't know if this is totally possible or if it will work, but what we know is that they're trying their best to make this true.

IMAGE FORMATS

Difference between Vector Image and Bitmap

Bitmap or raster images are images with points that are distributed called pixels. These dots are
perfect for images with many details, and thus define well their contrasts and colors by each of the
pixels.

However, a vector graphic does not lose quality no matter how much you enlarge, and adapt to the

resolution of any output device.

  AI image format

The AI format is from Adobe Illustrator, a vector graphics program .

 SVG image extension

Currently we can use SVG in the browser itself, be it Chrome, Safari or Firefox, being an image file
not very heavy, without losing quality, and we can even include animations in the image itself.

It should be noted that we can use the letters in a format that is capable of tracking and indexing by
Google, so it is one of the biggest advantages of this format to improve our SEO positioning.

 EPS image file format

Normally when we download vectorized images from the internet, they come in EPS format, ready
to print, being able to open them in any compatible design program.

 PDF Format

PDF (Portable Document Format) is another version that any client can easely open with its PDF
reader program such as Adobe Acrobat. In addition, you can open it vectorized if you have
saved this  way.

 JPG image format type

JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) extension is the best known and most used format for
saving images. This format loses quality due to its high compression, so it is perfect for when we do
not need a very heavy and detailed image.

The majority of cameras and images that we find on the internet are stored in this format, being
ideal due to their weight, since if we include them on our website they will weigh less than other
extensions, improving the loading speed.

 PNG image format

As I just told you, in PNG (Portable Network Graphicsyou can include the transparencies you need

without losing quality, so you can use it in your logos, images without backgrounds, etc.

Within the PNG formatwe find others based on the amount of information it stores: PNG 8

and PNG 2.

Example: Here you can't see the squares that are behind the picture, but where I found it, you

could see them.

 BMP image file format

The BMP (Bitmap) format is a bitmap format developed by Windows.

Although this format has no loss of quality, since it stores a lot of information in a large size

and weight, it has lost relevance with the appearance of JPG or PNG.

 TIF or TIFF image extension

The TIF or TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) format is used for saving images in which

many colors and details appear, such as high-quality professional photographs.

It supports a storage of colors of up to 32 bits, so it has a large size due to the amount

of information, being very heavy. It also has no loss of quality when compressed.

Supports files up to 4GB in size, making it ideal for photographs with many details.

 GIF format

We see it daily, especially in Social Networks. It is a format that supports animations

by reproducing images in a row and immediately upon opening, achieving an

incredible visual impact.

You can have up to 256 colors and compress the images, so the image format is

usually small, unless you have high animations.

 PSD Image File Type

A PSD is created with Adobe Photoshop.

This has the option of creating vectors, but it is mostly used for bitmap images.

The main disadvantage of this extension is that if you do not have Adobe Photoshop installed

you will not be able to open the document.

 RAW image extension

The RAW image format is typical of digital reflex cameras.

The majority of photographers use this extension, since it does not compress the photograph and

will have the highest possible quality.

Once you have your picture on your computer, you can make all the changes you need with

editing programs.
